This massive event is held the first weekend of November every year in the middle of the Texas desert.  As Chili Cats were virgins to this event we were not sure what to expect but were told we would love it....that was an understatement!  As the rule is, "What Happens in Terlingua, Stays in Terlingua" not all secrets can be revealed but an extraordinary adventure it was!  CASI cooks are each others extended family and that is no joke, everyone we met was awesome and we considered them part of our family immediately.  So many events leading up to the main "Chili Cookoff" on Saturday was overwhelming at times but always fun!  If you are bored at anytime during your stay, something is seriously wrong with you.  You will never starve, you will never lack camaraderie, and you most definitely will never run out of beer!  The landscape is amazing and when you see that CASI sign on the drive towards the gates, excitement just takes hold of you.  Nothing has compared to awe of standing in line with 250+ chili cooks ready to turn in their winning chili at "High Noon".  We are so glad we were able to be a part of this and hope to make this a yearly event so we can visit with all the people we met this year.
